You're walking along the ramparts of the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, listening to your tour guide, when it happens. The stories of this special place start to fire your imagination. And you can picture what life was like for the soldiers stationed here in the late 1800s.
We'll tell you how this marvel of masonry was designed, built and operated. We'll introduce you to some of the colourful characters that worked and lived at the Halifax Citadel, and how they spent their days. And we'll share insights on how this fort played a key role in the growth of Halifax and Canada.
Your Halifax Citadel guided tour is 45-60 minutes in length and starts at the Information Centre. Tours are offered throughout the day in both English and French.
Please note: These public tours are available during our operational season of May 7 - October 31. If you would like to book a private tour during our offseason, please go to the Private Bookings link.
