The HCRA would like to acknowledge the support of Democracy 250 in the creation of a new living history program for 2009. This program involves the re-enactment of another historic regiment from Atlantic Canda - the 40th Regiment of Foot - who will appear in various capacities throughout the year and into the future. "This is an exciting addition to our ability to interpret the military history of this region," said Hal Thompson, HCRA Operations Officer. "The 40th gives us a greater capacity to interpret the manoevers and drill of the 18th century for the benefit of site visitors and the general public."
The program is the result of a partnership struck between Democracy 250 and the HCRA. It is a legacy project of the original D250 program which was established to recognize Nova Scotia’s pioneering role in shaping the evolution of democracy in Canada by establishing the first representative government in our country.
