Soldier for a Day - Ready. Aim. Fire! Spend a day in the Victorian Army for the ultimate in historical experiences. This highly interactive program allows visitors to dress in period uniform, to experience 19th century military drill, discipline and accommodation and even get a taste of Victorian-era food. The crack of rifle fire signals the end of your day.

The Highlander Experience - In the Victorian period, to “take the Queen’s Shilling” became a code-phrase for an individual’s enlistment in the army. Enlist with us for this half-day program to lend your hand to a cannon’s crew, get up close and personal with the Highland bagpipe and walk the walls of the Citadel with a 19th century soldier as your guide.

Victorian Tea and Tour - Come and experience the quintessential of Victorian pastimes. Following a tour of the Citadel treat yourself to a traditional tea in one of the fort’s historically restored rooms and learn of the evolution of this most British of activities. Will that be one lump or two?

Fort Tour - Why was Halifax called the Warden of the Honour of the North? Come see for yourself! Get the best panoramic views of the city while guides entertain with tales of Empire and point out local landmarks from atop the Citadel’s ramparts.
